Exploring. Yet again! 8.21.10

After about 5 days in the park's vicinity, we finally headed out to actually see it!  Being hidden away up at Slide Lake, you can almost forget you're at the Grand Tetons.  But coming back down to 'the hole', as in Jackson Hole, or valley, you're rewarded with quite a sight!

The Tetons, in case you were wondering, were created when tectonic plates shifted.  That shift caused massive earthquakes that kept pushing and pushing the ground up uplifting this magnificent range.  But that's not the end of the story.  Glaciers then pushed through carving and shaping the jagged peaks we see today. Those same glaciers of course also created the beautiful alpine looking lakes we feasted our eyes on and enjoyed playing in.

And wild life?  Of course!

On our way back home, we saw a crowd of people off the side of the road, a sure sign there's something to see.  We were lucky enough to witness 3 moose having their evening meal by the river!  We watched for a good half hour before they trotted off....
